REMEMBERANCE RIDE
All are invited to the second annual 9-11 remembrance ride through Bradenton and parts of Manatee County. Last year on a spur of the moment email that was sent out by one person, over 130 bikes showed up to show their support and to remember the horrific events of September 11th, 2001. This is a day that will effect all Americans forever. This is a remembrance ride starting at Manatee River Harley Davidson and ending at The Wing House on US 41 in Bradenton. Last year many motorists honked at us and gave us the "thumbs up" sign and no one was upset by our presence. As of right now our route will be a simple one so as to not interfere with the normal traffic flow of the day. We are planning this ride on 9-11 which is important and we don't want to have it on the "nearest" Saturday or Sunday. We will begin registration (which is free) at 5:00 pm and end by 6:00 pm at Manatee River H-D, after a quick moment of silence and a safety briefing, we will depart Manatee River H-D at 6:15 pm. For route information please go to www.manateeriverharleydavidson.com and click on the Remembrance Ride posted or please contact Steve at my03fatboy@tampabay.rr.com.                         Click for flyer

The Ride Home
National Historic Site – Andersonville, GA
Home of the National Prisoner of War Museum

About the Ride Home

The Ride Home began in 2002 as a retreat and rededication. Our founding members, from FL and GA Rolling Thunder Chapters, chose the National Historic Site at Andersonville, GA, home of the National
Prisoner of War Museum.

We took up the challenge of a Presidential Proclamation, “I call upon the people of the United States to join me in honoring and remembering all former American prisoners of war and those missing in action who valiantly served our great country. I also call upon Federal, State, and local government officials and private organizations to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

In 2007, we were privileged to have more than 50 former Prisoners Of War join us in a two day celebration to honor these heroes.

Our goal for 2008 is to invite as our guests, approximately 150 former POWs and Next of Kin; to offer a recognition commensurate with their extraordinary courage and valor; to increase the number of participants paying tribute; and to increase public awareness and commitment that we will never forget.

Daytona Biketoberfest
Biketoberfest 2008 will be the 16th Annual rally held in Daytona Beach. Because it is smaller than Daytona Beach Bike Week that is held in the spring, some people find it preferable so you don’t spend as much time in gigantic motorcycle traffic jams and have room to breath once you are off of your bike.
There are a number of scenic rides and if you live in a landlocked state you will love the view of the beaches. You will need to remember that the weather can turn ugly, so be prepared. Fair warning, the police hand out tickets for nudity, burnouts and loud pipes. Daytona Beach Biketoberfest is on the 2008 Lightning Customs Major
Biker Rallies List.

11th Annual Great Teddy Bear Run
The 11th Annual Great Teddy Bear Run, sponsored by the Sarasota Florida HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter,
is well underway. The date is set for Sunday November 16, 2008. This charity event will benefit KIDS by the SEA, a local non-profit, serving children with cancer in our area since 1982. Every year we have a police escorted parade with a new teddy bear or other stuffed animal strapped to our bike and end at the Sarasota Fairgrounds for a big party with lots of food & fun. For only $10.00 if you pre-register ($15 the day of the event) & a stuffed animal for charity, you gain entrance to the parade & event which includes your barbeque dinner, ice tea and water. Soda & beer by the glass will be available for a reasonable donation.
